NETT, More than just a Tiling course
Most people that go onto a tiling course go on with intensions of starting or running their own business, if you want just to learn a few basics for DIY purposes then you could just go to the nearest centre to you, even if the standard of training from that centre was poor, you will probably get enough from it to do your own DIY jobs however if you are looking for a career change then be carefull where you go, there is good and bad in everything, the poor centres are not going to get you out their to start building a career on, so do your research into the training company before you part with your money. Sometimes travelling a distance to the right centre is the only way to go
We at NETT are more than just a tiling training centre, we will teach you how to tile to a great standard, we cover every background situation you are likley to find yourself in and all the product knowledge you are likely to need with a full detailed explination of how to deal with that situation (40 pages of bullet point sinarios and solutions), this is all pre typed up for you to go through with the instructor (myself Darren ) on the course and to take away with you after your course
No training centre can say they are going to make you a master tiler in a short time but what we can gaurentee that you will leave us with a fantastic grounding and understanding of the correct methods of doing the job correctly and the knowledge of facing the problems you are likely to come up against.
Once you have left your training ease into the work by taking on jobs that you are comfortable with, maybe a few family or friends, this will build your confidence up no end, remember when you are self employed you are in controll, if a job looks to tasking for you to start with just dont do it until you have the confidence and a few under your belt.
People overlook the importance of the business side of the game, this is where we are up their with the best, we teach you how to take your new skills and turn them into money which at the end of the day is what its all about, the tilers that say they tile for the love of the job are liars, any tiler that says this just ask him to do your bathroom for free then, you know what the answer will be.
I myself have been in the business for over 20 years, i pass on all my experience to you so you can get a good start
First of all to be successfull you need 5 key skills and tiling is the most important but it is near the end, there is 3 you have to have first
1 Marketing skills (self promotion) without this you have nothing, if people dont know what you do or dont have your contact numbers then this leads to no estimates and no jobs
2 Sales Skills, if you dont sell your knowledge and yourself to the customer then they will choose someone else they are more confident in
3 Personallity, if your personallity clashes with the customers they will not give you the job, (people buy of people they like)
4 Trade skills, ability to do a good job (reputation building)
5 Drive and determination to succeed, got to go out and hunt the business down
If you aint got all 5 of the above 5 skills then you are going to struggle in business, if you take any one skill away from the above, you will not end up with doing the job for the customer as you just wont be there.
I am going to do another post later on tips on finding work and marketing yourself to the max, remember marketing only leads to is a phone call from a POTENTIAL customer, the sales is what you have to do then to get the job booked in
Hope this gives you a bit of an understanding of how we at NETT try and make you into a business in tiling, not just someone with a few tiling skills
