    Question Thinking about it

Having long since put away my tools and doing a sedentary job, I am now thinking of starting up again, can anyone give me honest advice on the north east tile training centre run by darren and tracey, everyone seems to have a good word about it, just want to be sure before i retrain again.

Does anyone know if this course would help me attain my cscs card or would i require further training

also anyone with any tips or tricks for any subject please feel free to email me

    many thanks

    andy

cscs cards a a goverment run scheme..they may help you with the information for the test but they can't help you achieve the test...this test can be taken at any time and is simple. As long as you read the book they send you and revise all of the answers are in the book. You are given 40mins to answer the multiple choise questions....everyoneone i know who read the book passed...those who didn't failed.

CSCS is related to construction NVQ's. The only way to get your CSCS card is to enrol onto your NVQ, where you will be given a red 'trainee' card. As soon as you have passed your NVQ, you will be given a 'blue' experienced worker card with your qualifications written on them (like a driving licence).

There are plenty of centres that offer 'tiling training'. Most of which are non-accredited and are not worth the money at all.

There are some that offer accredited short courses (us, NETT and a couple of others), where what you receive at the end of the course can help towards your NVQ. Plus the fact you know you are getting the right training for domestic work.

Finally, there are a very small few centres (us, plastering & artexing school, ABLE skills) that offer an ICA, where your CSCS test is included in the training and the award can be FULLY used towards your NVQ with no further training required for it.

Your red 'trainee' cscs card only lasts for 2 years, and is not re newable after this. This is the time construction skills expect you to get your NVQ once enrolled, although it can be done in as little as 10 weeks.

    Good luck
