Re: North East Tiling Training - Tyne and Wear
Im hoping to start this course in the New Year some time.
I too come from a non-site environment and cant wait for this new challenge.
I have this question tho:
After the 5 days, are you really able to apply these skill and work on your own, or is working with someone else to gain more experience more advisable?
Cheers

Re: North East TT
If you can get a bit of work with an experienced tiler then all the better but the main learning curve starts once you go out into the big wild world on your own...take your time and its not a race is my advise.....dave..

Re: North East TT
Hi mate, it really depends on your confidence and the job, I think most people will start on friends and family jobs so your not jumping in at the deepend with total strangers, and you will always come across problems on jobs that can't be covered on a training course, but that is where the beauty of this forum comes in, there is years and years of experience at your disposal with the guys on here, and they all seem keen to help and answer questions if they can, regardless of how thick you feel when asking so don't be afraid be careful, attention to detail and don't worry about how fast your going....Scott.......

Re: North East TT
Donny boy do the nett course mate i did, just doing 5 houses on a development at the moment and you will still be learning when on the job but as darren said you will pick it up as you go along and i have already picked up a bit more speed and confidence but still have loads to learn the tiling game is massive and there is far more to it than sticking a few tiles on a wall or floor the guys on here are excellent and a really big help but Darren at nett will give you a good grounding and the confidence to go for it.

Re: North East TT
Dont know about any other course but i do know that the NETT course is very enjoyable, informative and delivered by Darren in a passionate and friendly way.The course has all the basics that you need to become a confident tiler,so my advice is read the feedback regarding the courses and make up your own mind but if you choose the NETT course ,i can assure you that you will not be dissappointed.

you would always be better off doing small jobs for friends and family and working with another tiler before going it alone. You will gain confidence and skill.
No matter how good the course, you cannot beat EXPERIENCE !!
Good luck

Can't see why not. You won't be as fast as an experienced tiler but if you put what you learn into practice and can work at a rate that suits you, you won't go far wrong.
At NETT you'll be taught how to 'Measure Up' - 'Setting Out' - 'How to Cut Tiles inc shapes' - 'Cutting around Objects' - 'Adhesives, How to Place & Fix Tiles to Backgrounds' - also Grout & Silcone Finishing.
In my opinion understand those points and you'll do a good job and the NETT team make the above points easy to understand that even if you've got alzheimer's you'll not forget it ... they'll teach you far more than I can list here, but you'll be alright.
Only thing is if you're a Southerner you'll come away with a Geordie accent!
