large format course
hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a course specialising in large format tiles. As we all know tiles are getting bigger and bigger. These require a different skill set to your usual ceramics and i havent had any proper training on this and would be interested to do some.

Hi James,
We include training on large format tiles in our course structure.
I am sure if it was only large format training that you wanted to attend, that we would be able to provide this for you.
If you require any further info please call Leanne at the centre on Freephone 0800 622 6924.
All the best

Re: large format course
It certainly brings in a lot of different issues that other forms of tiling don't encounter - weight/substrates etc.
My first thoughts were it comes with experience but you find these days people don't want to learn they just do it!
So your question is right and its also good that Diamond Training would consider this a subject well worth covering.

Re: large format course
Its something we have mentioned to a few of the training centres.
We attend about 4 centres to provide training on drilling porcelain and also showing the benefits on ceramics.
When we get to part of our talk which is "Fashions have changed in the domestic market and clients are turning to porcelain in favour of ceramics" those training centres who up until then have not informed their tilers about porcelain markets get a few funny looks.
We have since changed our pitch to "We provide diamond tile drills to commercial tilers who fit porcelain tiles but this product is also relevent to the domestic market and to you a newly qualified tiler dealing in ceramics because it gives you neater results and the cost of the kit is good value for money"
That way those centres who have not mentioned the dreaded P word don't come in for a hard time for forgetting about 40% of the market. (and rising).
