    Default NETT question

Am looking to go on the NETT course next month (will book dates shortly). couple of questions.

    1) how much money do you reckon I'll need for tools at the end of the course?
    2) any reccomendations on a good B&B?
    3) any other tips? eg what type of shoes to wear (are trainers ok?) etc etc

    cheers...

    1. Depends on how much they sell them for really.

Generally you can kiss goodbye to around £300 - £500 getting kitted out if you have nothing to start with, depending on quality of gear.

    2. No idea, sorry.

    3. I wore trainers when I did my course, but you'll always be better off with decent boots.

If your on a tight budget - you could get away with spending under £100 for your first job or two (assuming your working with ceramics) and then re-invest the money youve made in a decent (radial) tile cutter shortly after.

when you phone up tp book the course Tracy will give you some guest house phone numbers. I'd give you the name off the one I used but I can't remember the name. That'll be something to do with the marine, which is the pub to go to for yer tea and a little night cap....or two

    Talking Re: NETT question

Ive just completed the NETT course today.

My advice would be to book on ASAP and get your 'Bible' !

I knew very little about tiling last week but now feel confident enough to price a job and complete it. Obviously just because ive done a course does not make me a great tiler and some time served tilers might say you cant learn enough in one week but this course gives you a brilliant insight to the 'business of tiling' not just how to slap a tile on straight.

Darren's teaching style is thorough, honest and to the point, saving time and as you know in business, 'time is money'.

The set up is excellent, plenty of space to practice and the course runs in a logical order , facilities are good for lunch etc and Tracey is great support (and the biscuits are nice).

You can buy tools at the end of the course and Darren will whittle your list down to what you want to spend on essentials so your £400 will be well spent.

My only tip is to listen and remember evrything you can ! GOOD LUCK

    Chris B

the bible is your notes you take down throughout the course! absolutely essential material, but writing it down yourself ensures you digest eveything taught!! honestly you will be amazed at what you can remember!!! truly remarkable course!

i learnt my lesson the hard (painful) way, bag of dried plaster fell out of my van and onto my toe, 3 cuts to the bone, toe fragmented into 20+ pieces and no toe nail....none of would have happened if i'd have been wearing safety footwear, well except for the plaster falling.
    Always wear safety boots/shoes...Mark.
