Is it worth it
Ive been tiling for 3 years since i started working,,,
I learnt the trade from experianced tilers of which are very impressed with what im capable of doing hence me now being Self Employed.
However is it worth me getting an NVQ?
I didnt realise you could get one for tiling?

Re: Is it worth it
Hi luke..do you do site work...if not then don't worry...
Nvq's will be law for site work in 2010...but not domestic work...it's all about health and safety on sites..

Re: Is it worth it
Depending on your age maybe worth doing if you have a long working life, site work could creep in over time

Re: Is it worth it
Hi Tower
they have tried for years to put trade on the cards, alot of tilers work for a bigger tiling company that get the work in , if you work all the time on sub contract basis for one company on a m2 rate but its labour only , then you are not self employed , because you are not taking the risk as a business , and they basis this on 6 weeks
It cost the company money for you to be on the cards, holiday pay , more NI 8%, bank holidays, sick pay,
