Default Some guy wants to know if it's worth doing a course...

Some guy on Tiling News wants to know if it's worth doing a short course rather than an NVQ and I thought I'd post it in here to get a response other than mine.

The topic can be found here: Wall and Floor Tiling NVQ Level 2 (NVQ in Tiling) : Tiling News

Just scroll down the page and leave a comment if you have a view.

Thumbs up Re: Some guy wants to know if it's worth doing a course...

I recently completed a course at Northeast Tiling training near Newcastle. A 5 day course which was first class for the first 4 days but unfortunately the last day was on Natural Stone and I think I only had a go at one cut on one tile. Doesn't really give you too much practice, especially considering I shattered the tile (marble) due to the fact it was a lot harder to cut than ceramic, which we could cut into any shape, even curves in a matter of seconds.
So............... great for ceramics but not so good for practical stone cutting etc... Got all the information we need though, just need more practice on natural stone.
We finished our first job at the weekend and the dude was over the moon with the finish though. We could never even have attempted it without the training course. I would recommend it for anyone new to tiling - like us!!

Hope that helps

Andy
