Re: Access Training Wales - Cardiff
Booked a course 18 months ago through step-to-training and attended five day tiling package (as part of a multi skill diy course) as the centre was rebranding to Access training wales. The instructor was a brickie. They had limited bays. Was ok for a five day diy however one of the guys doing six weeks hadnt done anything but ceramic wall and floor in fairly basic patterns and was bored at the end. Things may have changed however suggest you try before you buy and ask the relevant questions that dan has posted.

Re: Access Training Wales - Cardiff
I did a 4 week course there, again taught by a brickie. I only covered ceramic wall and floor tiling, lots of cutting and shaping. I didn't get any qualification from the course, even though it was BAL approved. They did say they would send me some post course literature, but nothing has arrived.

Re: Access Training Wales - Cardiff
Say no more, what does a bricky know about tiling, would a tiler show you how to lay bricks and build a house
Did you pay for the course or did you get it free through the government.
When booking on a course free or paid, find out who is the trainer and try and get past student feedback, if you cant get either, avoid

Re: Access Training Wales - Cardiff
Hi Mike. The course is almost free. Im in the armed forces and leaving soon. The 8 week course is for the Diploma in tiling (means nothing to me lol). The cost of the course is £5200.00 this includes accomodation and food for the full 8 weeks. I have had to pay £700 towards this but will be able to claim it back on completion. I know a few people who have trained with them over the last year and they have no complaints about it. I do beleive they have moved and upgraded their facilities over the last year so that will be intresting to find out. Once the i have completed the training i will let you all know the out come and if i would recomend them.
