Master Tiling School
i have just completed a 2 week foundation tiling course at the master training school in hainult essex and am wondering where to go from here, i didnt get as much out of the course as i hoped i would, obviously i got 2 weeks experience in wall tiling, which included, a full wall, tiling around a square, tiling around a circle, tiling around a window, and a kitchen backsplash, and also got a folder with a lot of instructions relating to these tasks, i put around 950 pound for the course, but apart from my folder, and a few pictures on my phone there is no proof that i have done any such course, i dont have any other courses to compare with, but id say the facilities were good, the instructor mark was nice, and knew what he was doing but sometimes he was tuturing 8 different people in all different sections of the warehouse so it was hard to get a lot of time with him, and i would have liked either another tutor or less people on the course. on 1 of the days he had to do a taster day for new people starting the following week which i found bad as we lost him for most of that day.
i work full time and have used up my holiday time taking up this course, so my options of where to go from here are limited, i went to see the owners wife who works in the office to ask her if she could speak to her husband about letting me go to work for him at any times during the weekend, as i felt this would be a great chance to carry on learning, without paying out for another course straight away, and id be happy to go along for nothing just to get experience, and although she said she would speak to him and get back to me, i heard absolutely nothing from her or her husband, which disappointed me massivly, baring in mind there promise of finding people work who do the 8 week course, i did a 2 week course, didnt want a job, just some work experience and they couldnt help me out, stirkes me as a take the money and run sort of operation
having said that i am glad i did the course as i now have a basic knowledge of wall tiling, i am keen to further myself now, but just need to find a way how.
one thing i am looking at is going with ableskills who can offer long term weekend courses, which will fit alongside my job, i will also keep a look out for decent tiling opportunities through friends and family,
if anyone has any suggestions, or feedback on able skills it would be great to here them
