In this article we show you how to use PORSADRILL diamond tile drills to
install a blind into a window recess without breaking the tiles and being able
to make a hole into a porcelain tile with ease.

So here is our window without its blind...




Time to make sure you have
1) Your Porsadrill TILE DRILLS which are diamond core hole saws
from 365Drills
2) Rawl Plugs (red for 6mm)
3) All the brackets and screws.
4) Tape Measure
5) Pencil

The first thing we have to do is measure where we want the drop. We do
not want the blind to catch on the handle sticking out of the window. But
we do not want it so far forward that we can not put bottles on the
window sill.


Rather than MEASURE - we are going to use our eye and take our cue
from the grout line as our datum so that the blind is level both sides of the
window.
The blind will be level to the eye rather than level to the window.


Use a bit of tape or masking tape to pencil the marks in.


Use the 365Drills anti-slip guide plate to secure the diamond core to the
tile. This yellow non slip drill guide is designed to be used in such awkward
spots like upside down into a window reveal. If you find that the 6mm hole
is inset too far into the guide plate then cut a bit off the plate so that you
can get it right into the corner of the tile. Its only plastic !


Start off your hole with the diamond core set into a cordless drill.
WARNING: Do not drill porcelain tile for too long with a dry diamond tile
drill. Upside down is the worst way to drill tiles. And I should know!


Only drill a few mm into the tile dry. Now its time to add water.


Use a soaking wet water sponge to cool the diamond core drill bit.
We supply them but you can use your own. This is really awkward drilling !!


When you have drilled your hole into the tile at a width of 6mm then swap
to a standard masonary drill to get the depth. Push the red rawl plugs in
just into the tile so they do not stick out. The bracket will sit flush to the
tile (and we hope level) I never over tighten the screws I always leave
them a little loose and let the final adjustment of the blind take up the
slack of the bracket and the screws.


Fast forward a few steps and our project is finished.

We have installed our blind. Drilled perfect holes. The drill pack makes a
fetching window display.
