And yes i would use a grey grout as well.........

As long as the grout is all recessed. I would clean with heavy duty tile and grout cleaner. Then treat with a mild form of phos acid. Then regrout as normal or use Aqua Mix grout colourant

What ever method you use , it will take time. I would say 4 hours to remove the grout in a bathroom is very good going.
The fein blades are expensive too but i thing the Fein is the more versatile tool.
