getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
Hello!
I thought this forum might be a good place to get some help! We've got green slate tiles on our kitchen floor and recently had to replace a few. It was suggested by the place we got the tiles from that we seal them with the LTP stuff. The guy that did the work for us did that, and they are fine, but for some reason he has also put some on four or five adjoining tiles and it looks dreadful - they have come up much darker than the rest of the floor and he has done it messily with some onto the grout and onto other tiles. We want to get it off and googling has given nitromors as a suggestion.
I'm worried about making it even worse by trying this. Any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
It will not come off.. it is an impregnator colour enhancer and the darkening cannot be reversed..

Can you not do the whole floor..? then it will be even..

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
I guess we could, but it looks horribly shiny and dark, whereas at the moment the rest of it looks like nice green slate.

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
You are supposed to rub any excess off before it dries or it will go shiny.... It is designed to darken the colour and not go shiny.. that is fixer error.

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
I did wonder, as he has used nearly the whole litre bottle on under 2 square metres of tile. I can complain to the guy who did it, but that won't sort my floor out! I'm annoyed as I guess even if we did the whole floor, these few tiles would still be shiny and darker than the rest.

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
You can remove the shiny'ness.. just not the darkening..
Yes contact who did it and get him to rectify.. after all he should not have done this if he had no clue what he was doing..

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
Thanks Dave. I will do, but I suspect he won't know what to do - as you say - he clearly didn't know what to do with the LTP stuff. He's a general handyman/builder, not a tiler.
He's away sunning himself in Spain so I'll get him round when he gets back.
Thanks

No probs, in the mean time arm yourself with the required info/products from LTP..

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
Replace the tiles with new ones again and seal with the same product as the others have been sealed with.

Re: getting LTP colour intensifier and stainblock off slate tiles
I hope it doesn't come to that as the original tiles (put down before we moved here) are stuck to the floor with cement I think, so they took hours to remove last time, and it'll be a very messy and difficult job!

Could try Aqua mix sealer & coating remover. What area are you from?

Shropshire. I could google it and see where I could get it.
Thanks
