terracotta or quarry tiles?
hello, i am looking for some expert help.
i want to deep clean and reseal my kitchen floor.
first how do i tell if it is terracotta or quarry tiles.
each tiles is 11 inches sq. they have a very uneven surface and do not appear to be glazed. one broke recently and it had a clay like appearance
they are an orange/red colour.
secondly, they are very dirty and stained.what products do i clean them with and what products do i use to seal with a slight sheen appearance.
many thanks

Re: terracotta or quarry tiles?
It does sound like a terracotta floor tile..
It would help if we knew what they were sealed with as not all cleaners do the same job with different sealers used..
As in boiled linseed oil needs one stripper compared to acrylic sealers used..

Re: terracotta or quarry tiles?
Can you post some pics.. maybe we might be able to see if oxidisation is present hence hinting it will be linseed oil used..

Re: terracotta or quarry tiles?
i think it has been many years since they have been sealed if that makes a difference?
they stain with liquids very easily

Re: terracotta or quarry tiles?
In your introduction you said you'd had quotes of £700 - did they supply a written estimate as all the details should be on there.
Sounds like terracotta, but will need a deep clean before any new sealing is undertaken.
How big is the floor area.
