Help! Chalky looking Travertine Tile
We need advice on one tile in our shower area that we first thought was just dusty. The Tile is travertine and when it is wet looks like all the others. when it is dry thought it appears to have a chalky appearance or covered in dust. Should we just try and seal it to bring up a shine or is there anything we can put on it to look like the others?
Don't really want to remove the one tile as we don't want to ruin the hard work we have put it.....Help!
Thanks
Polly

Re: Help! Chalky looking Travertine Tile
Hi Polly welcome to the forum.
Did you seal the travertine before and after grouting?
You can get a lot of shade difference with natural stone.
A picture would help a lot.

travertine shades from tile to tile thats what gives the un-polished stuff that unique look, other than that it might be grout left on the tile

Re: Help! Chalky looking Travertine Tile
Pics need to be no bigger than 2400x1200..
Does the tile feel rough compared to the others..?.. it might be residue from manufacture process.. a piece of 400 grit wet&dry will sort it.

Alternatively, and with respect, did you lay it the wrong way up?

Looks the same when it is wet, just this white dusty look when it is dry.

Re: Help! Chalky looking Travertine Tile
Try the wet & dry and if it dries the same ,, don't spoil the job.. just replace with a good one.

Thanks everyone. Will dry the wet & dry option and replace if it doesn't work.
