Hi there this may be a question for you cleaning and refurb pros.
A customer of mine had Travertine worktops fitted in there kitchen and it was sealed with 6 coats of LTP Mattstone by the installers.
after only a few months stains started to appear, now these stains have been caused by the customer who is a very keen chef, he does a lot off food prep and this has been done direct on the travertine topps and he uses alot of lime and lemons etc. So his guess is that this is what has caused the staining.
Now he has tried removeing the stains and this is what he has done.
LTP Grimex diluted and then made it stronger until at full strength keeping it wet and adjutating it as he went
LTP power stripper again diluted and then full strength again adjutating it and keeping it wet.
LTP fullers earth
and the stains are still there and he says that they have not improved atall.
Is there any other products that you can reccomend that would do the job?
and once removed is there a better sealer that can be used for travertine kitchen worktops?
But seen as it has then they can be re-honed.. the acid has etched them and can be sorted no probs..
Thats just what i was thinking but wondered if there was a way to remove it with an aquamix product as they have something that is supposed to remove light etching and scratches etc.
I haven't used the aqua mix one.... i did use some from a stone guy last year but i didn't know what make it was . he had it in a clear pot and i used it on granite..i worked fine and i finished off with my black buff pad..
Another option and it is the cheapest way is to use wet and dry.. but again use a scrap tile to test grades.
