    Default Polished Porcelain disaster

Hi all, Hoping for some much need help. I purchase black polished porcelain tiles for my kitchen. After my tiler laid them (ignoring the fact they needed to be sealed before grouting) there was grey marks on them. I thought this was grout haze and bought lithofin cement remover which the tiler used on them, this made no difference and before i knew it the tiler had sealed them. Absolute disaster. I have sealed tiles, which still have stains. Is there any hope for my tiles?

    Hi Annie and welcome..

A particle abrasive cleaner like Lithofin Abra clean or Aqua mix nano scrub should work at getting those clean.

The polishing process opens up pores in the tile surface and it is these pores that hold the dirt/grout etc.. and a good quality penetrating sealer helps seal those pores thus making cleaning them easier.

Thanks Dave, unfortunately the tiler has sealed the tiles already. Is it impoosible to get the sealant off, it was HG stain protector?

It can be removed enough to get them clean..

To remove the sealer then you need a sealer remover..

Aqua Mix Sealer & Coating Remover is a non-flammable, multi-purpose stripper formulated to stay wet longer which gives the product time to remove most sealers, epoxy grout haze, urethane coatings, synthetic finishes, adhesives, and paints. Also dissolves deep-set stains and removes heavy grease buildup.

    Uses:

Natural stone (such as granite, limestone, marble, slate, and travertine), ceramic, porcelain, grout, quarry, saltillo, terra cotta, cement pavers, and masonry surfaces.

and then you need the abrasive cleaner to get the grout from the pores..

    NanoScrub®

Aqua Mix NanoScrub® is an abrasive cream cleaner designed to work where other cleaners won’t. It utilizes NanoSTG (nano-sized particles) to penetrate into small surface pores where it can effectively work to remove surface stains and residues. Effective for cleaning all stone and tile surfaces. Also removes factory applied waxes and floor finishes, coating sealers, light grout residue (including epoxy), rubber and pencil marks, light mineral deposits, ground-in dirt and most sealer residues. NanoScrub is nontoxic, non-flammable and non-acidic.

    Uses:

Porcelain, ceramic, polished and unpolished natural stone (such as granite, limestone, marble, slate, and travertine), grout, quarry, saltillo, terra cotta, cement pavers, masonry surfaces, and other stone, tile and grout surfaces.

    Then when dry re-seal..

Sealers Choice Gold is a premium, no-sheen, natural-look, water-based, penetrating sealer

Formulated to provide maximum stain protection, especially in food preparation and serving areas.

    - May be used as a pre-grouting sealer
    - Allows moisture vapor transmission
    - An excellent grout sealer
    - Effective for interior and exterior applications
    - Water based - No fire risk and low odour application

    Uses:-

All natural stone (i.e. marble, granite, slate, travertine, and limestone), porcelain, quarry, saltillo, terra cotta, cement pavers, masonry surfaces, and other porous tile and grout where a natural look is desired.

Coverage: 10 - 35 Sq M per coat per 946ml bottle (depends on material)

Expected life/wear: Up to 15 years
