Default Victorian Geometric Floor

Recently had a telephone enquirey about restoring a victorian geometric floor design.
I am going round on monday for a look and want to sound really on the ball as i really want the chance to do this kind of work.
There is not alot of information on the job spec, but any pointers so i sound better than the next man would be fantastic.

Any idea on price? I was thinking of doing it on a day rate and making a really good job of it.

Would definately do it on a day rate. That way customer gets what they pay for and you get paid for what you do.

For cleaners you won't go wrong with Aqua Mix. They were featured on Grand Designs when they restored a church floor. Think there's pictures on the Channel 4 website.

Just an update on my progress on the geometric floor.
Have found alot of useful information on Original Style wall and floor tiles, natural stone, interior paint, glass tiles, mosaics I plan to measure the amount of tiles and then grade for size, shape and colour to match the existing floor.
I plan to order direct from this site, does anyone know of an alternative?
I hope this site will help someone in the future.

some times this type of restoration work involves replacing damaged sections of the design , so great care needs to be taken because the old fixing methods were to butt joint the tiles together so removing sections can be difficult and also can loosen up next tiles in line and so on. just pointing this out as it is normaly a specialist job and i would leave it to them that do it day in day out, but if its just a cleaning job then follow mcp77,s advice.....dave..

Dave,
If there is a fair amount of work to be done, should I just advise the client to seek a specialist. I don`t want to get out of my depth.
thanks

hi mate... i have laid these floors before and fixing new floors is no problem but to restore a damaged one, then after all my years tiling i dont think i would have a go as some of these floors have been down many years and unless you are specialised in this type of restoration then i would pass it on to the specialists....dave...
