flexible adhesive?
I'm a new member..Hi to all !
Had wet underfloor heating system installed in new garden room. Screed was laid over pipes and then self levelling comound applied. Floor has been down 6 weeks and heating up well.
Now ready for tiling and have bought Courtyard Mews tiles fron Wickes.
Need advice on 2 things please.
1 Wickes do not have coloured grout to match the tiles (dark grey). any suggestions?
2 Is it necessary to use flexible adhesive under the tiles?
Thanks in anticipation......
Ivan

Re: flexible adhesive?
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Question number one - Mapei do a brilliant range of coloured grouts and several greys.
Question number two - Yes you will want a single part flexible adhesive, probably grey if you are going for grey grout. I would go for Mapei's Keraquick grey myself but be careful as this is a rapid setting adhesive and if you need more time to work with it, you may be better off going for a standard setting one.
Do you know if there is a Tile Giant near to you? Have a read through the link below, if so, pop in there and tell them what you are after and they should be able to sort you out no problem

Re: flexible adhesive?
The Adhesive MUST be flexible as should the grout. BAL do a range of coloured grouts to suit and you most are now flexible, their micromax range should have something suitable, you can buy a non flex grout and mix with an additive to make it flexible. Do ensure that the adhesive is flexible, single part or 2 part would be fine but be careful with rapid settings adhesives

Re: flexible adhesive?
Don't forget to turn the UFH off before you tile you need to let the floor cool down, then after tiling wait for 21/28 days before swiching on. You need to raise the temperature gradually, there are threads on here that will give more details. Also adhesive manufacturers can give you further advise.

Re: flexible adhesive?
Many thanks Afenteman and Waterfd for the additional information - I certainly hadn't realized that we would have to wait that long before we turned the ufh back on ! Better dig out the old electric fan heater then !!
Cheers

Re: flexible adhesive?
The time is for the adhesive to cure fully and is not forced through heat.
