i would seal after fixing, just the way i prefer, you say oil or is it transit wax

Never found anything as described in 38years - so I'd take them back.
Tiles should be clean and dry before installation.

I've not heard of anything being applied to reverse of the tile before. I'd normally use LTP Grimex to remove transit wax, LTP Solvex may work on the protective oil you mention also. Your best bet would be to contact LTP direct and see what they recommend.

i once bought a pallet black porcelain tiles from china when we opened them up they were coated with some sort of oil, had to soak them in soapy water when scrub them clean abit of a night mare didnt buy anymore,

Hi there, Chinese manufactured tiles have
wax both sides!!! If not removed.. Disaster!
