Primer for UFH screed help
Hi,
just joined and being getting lots of info on tiles and tiling, thank you everyone, good site.
I have built an extension that has UFH installed and a poured (like melted icecream) screed.
What would you recommend priming it with prior to tiling and what kind of adhesive for porcelian tiles (B&Q) 600mmx600mm?
I'm humming and haring over it and would appreciate some guidance.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome.
You need to find out the type of screed, sounds like an anhydrite and totally different prep.

Re: Primer for UFH screed help
welcome to the forum, as dave as said, find out the type of screed, alot more prep work involved than there would be with a conventional screed

Re: Primer for UFH screed help
Thanks guys for the welcome, the floor screed went in like a yellowish sloppy concrete mix. For some reason I can't find the contractor who done it (driving me mad) The screen has gone off and looks similar to a conventional screed. It wasn't one of the more expensive kind that has all sorts of additives.
Is that any help??
Thanks, mickeysparks

Re: Primer for UFH screed help
Hi mickeysparks. Do you know who supplied the screed....i.e. was it delivered in lorries?

Re: Primer for UFH screed help
sounds like anhydrite but I want to check as you say it looks like conventional screed. This indicates it could be a flowing cement based screed rather than anhydrite. If you can find out what lorries it was delivered on or if the surface feels waxy....scratch it with your fingernail and see if there is a wax coating on top.......this will be a curing agent which was sprayed on after the scree was laid and will tell me which type it is.
regardless of screed type prep will be similar but the adhesive choice may differ.......
welcome by the way...

And post a pic so i can have a look. Would be nice to see another anhydrite screed.

They all look different in different areas paul as the colour is generated primarrily by the sand that is used and the level of silt within the sand.
