True, when I say excess grout I mean the grout 'haze' left on the tiles

Even so the Tiler should never leave a job saying that you need to clean them or even without making sure the job is properly done. However if the client says that they will do the final clean then that's between the two parties concerned.

Are the tiles polished porcelain or a matt finish?

If it won't buff off with a dry cloth then you are going to need a grout haze remover, such as LTP Grimex ( available from LTP online or tile giant) it does depend on how much there is on the face of the tiles to know what exactly is needed to remove it.

I would just try washing them first with clean water.. then buff with paper towel or a soft cloth.
