Hi,
Some cowboy builder done a screed on a small conservatory and its like a roller coaster very bad job,
its about 3sqms by 3sqms they done it just before the bad winter last year and has alot of cracks.
My questions are will this crack anymore and would this be ok to lay slc on?
cheers
paul
Re: small floor screed
When you say screed, do you mean a sand and cement screeded floor or an overlay of SLC above a concrete floor ?

Re: small floor screed
will this be ok to level then?
Re: small floor screed
When you tap it does it rattle or sound loose. Its not looking good to me, I cant understand anyone concreting up to Skirting boards ?
Re: small floor screed
should i rip it up then level?
Re: small floor screed
That would be my choice and then I would know its done right.

Re: small floor screed
As above looks like slc. rip up, prime and re do it. Laying on it would be asking for trouble in the future

Re: small floor screed
Well i went to rip up the dodgy slc, and guess what an inch think of want look like sand and cement came up aswell,
these nuggets who call themselves builders put this down instead on concrete
its going to cost around 280 for the slc to build it up that high any ideas on building it up
roughy about 30mm?

Depends on the thickness but remember the cost will give you insulation as well. http://www.uheat.co.uk/backerboard.htm

A 50mm floor screed is laid, or used to be until all the insulation came into regs, on top of the concrete floor..

Re: small floor screed
aye no wonder people find it hard to trust
Re: small floor screed
Yep i'm with everyone, its an unprimed SLC floor, and needs to go! Make sure you buy a good leveller, not the mud they sell in builders merchants. Mapei renovation screed primed with Primer G takes some beating, Bal Multibase is good too, but can cost more.

Re: small floor screed
was the builder/cowboy informed that the floor was going to be tiled ?? maybe 'not carpet tiles' should have been made clear.
shouldn't an SLC not exceed 10mm to prevent cracking anyway ??
