Default Advice needed for porcelain tile adhesive

Hi to everyone, I'm from Malta and have just bought a terraced house which I will be refurbishing soon.

At the moment, all the floors are covered in ceramic tile which I will be covering with 600mm x 600mm porcelain gres tiles. What is the best adhesive for this job?

    Damian..

    Thanks for the welcome.

Actually I was going to lay the new tiles over the current ceramic tiles. Not sure whats under the current tiles, but if they were laid in the usual manner in Malta, I can assume that they are fixed using cement.

nearly always best practice to remove existing, as already mentioned. For porcelain tiles you'll need a flexible adhesive, either 1 or 2 part depending on the substrate

I dont think people are getting his point here ?
He's asking what adhesive to tile porcelain tiles on top of existing Ceramics, Flexible adhesive is not good enough!
I am in the same boat next week and still not quite sure what road to take?
Ardex do a brilliant Primer P4 dries like rough sandpaper on glazed tile ,but is £70 trade at CTD
I reckon my other option is an admix to rapid set ,much stronger bond than Flexible addys!

So we know what the substrate is We know it's solid enough to carry the extra weight And that what is down is not drummy then Laticrete Gold would be the adh I would recommend (flexable adh)The existing tiles will need the glaze roughened and extra expansion joints will be needed because you have porc over ceramics hope this helps
