rapid setting grout
I am taking on a shop floor 80m2. The shop owner wants it done in two days ready to walk on (3man team i think). He insisted on tiling on top of tiles which is a no no but he insisted he can't afford the store to be closed any longer then 2days. I dont think we will get it done in that time otherwise.
I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a rapid setting flexible grout (ivory colour).
Why is it all us tilers just get the awkward jobs atm?

Re: rapid setting grout
Mapei ultracolour Jasmine.
Hard to keep on a shop floor though.
80m2 in 2 days should be no bother at all, good size tiles etc.?

Re: rapid setting grout
Seems a bit of a tall order to me even with 3 guys in a team. Mapei Ultracolour Plus is the quickest setting stuff I know but I don't think that is really the issue. I don't know what others will adivse but I would hazard a guess and say you aren't going to be done in 2 days!

Re: rapid setting grout
What grout width?
Ardex FL (3 to 15mm) will set within 1.5 hours for foot traffic.
Ardex FS (upto 4mm) will be set in 2 hours.
They would be my weapon of choice! Easy to use too!
I'm guessing this is just one open space with perimeter cuts so you should be able to get it done quite comfortable with 3 of you, IMO.

Re: rapid setting grout
BAL have just brought out a new range of grouts, micro flex with micro ban, I think it's called. Just started using it and it's really good and sets in 2hrs. Full range of colours with matching silicones.

Re: rapid setting grout
80sqm between 3 should be easy to achieve in 2 days. once you get a fair bit done one man can grout and catch up like that. i laid and grouted 67 metres in 8 hours last month with one labourer. the job had to be done overnight for the shopfitters to be back in the morning. could hardly walk the day after though.

with all due respect m8 if you have a 3 man team and you can't do 80m2 in 2 days there is something very wrong.
2 men fixing and one mixing and setting up that is only 20m2 per day how is that hard ?

Just shows my lack of experience in site work or working with a team. I have only ever worked alone and never done site work so that sort of area seems big to me, even with 3 guys taking in to account possible floor prep, cuts, grouting, sealant etc. I didn't say it couldn't be done, just that to me it seemed a tall order!
