went to job today and i was able to peel of a section of mapeigum that i had spread on the day before but on another wall, this was about 1mm thick onto plasterboard, it just came off in one whole peice like wallpaper, like it was not really bonded to the plasterboard. It took the paper off the plasterboard aswell. Im now stressed as im wondering why this happened and whether it will happen with the walls which ive already tiled......

If it's taken the paper off as well I would imagine it has bonded, if it had left the paper face on the board now that would be a concern.

It's suppose to gel really really well to plasterboard so i'm confused here !
You say it came off the plasterboard? then took the paper off?

No sorry, as whitebeam said it took the paper off with it so it bonded to the plasterboard perfectly.

But what im saying is should I have been able to just pull it off like that? Im just thinking when its got some big ceramics and adhesive etc then that weight will surely pull it off?

    Good point golddigger !!!
    Worrying to say the least.
You say it pulled off easily and took the paper off the face of plasterboard too?
Did you try to pull a tile off yet?

I can't remember the last job I used Mapei Gum, but do you need to prime with primer G? I know a lot of paint on tanking systems require priming.

No I havnt tried to pull any tiles off the other walls... I might?

What happened was when I arrived this morning I noticed some high points on the mapeigum, nothing major but I just wanted to scrape them/knock them off before tiling... I used my scraper and knocked them off and whilst doing this i created a slight lift on the one small edge, so i pinched it with my fingers and then pulled it all off...

As if it was a bubble, when you pulled the paper off the plasterboard did it leave the gypsum showing.

no - not a bubble just a high point, where my paint brushing wasnt very neat. with regards to the plasterboard paper, it took the paper off, but not all the paper so the gypsum was not showing,, it took a mega thin skin of the paper.
