Re: Marking out on top of Ditra matting
you can flat out some rapid adhesiv and let it go off to give you a surface to chalk lines down on ,i have heard of ink filled chalk lines manufactured to mark out on ditra but have never actually seen one with my own eyes

Re: Marking out on top of Ditra matting
now that aint a bad idea, putting rapid down flat to markout!! why didnt i think of that?? ive used ink in chalk lines in the past the only problem was its splatters everywhere and is very messy, but i was using a powered dye that is normally used for clothes and just add a little water and the only china pencil ive got a the min is the same colour as the ditra matt ha ha so that wouldnt work unless i get a black/blue one, but thanks alot for your answers it'll take me a day to lay the ditra matting on its own so whatever adhesive ive got left at the end of the day i'll throw down wherever im roughly starting from the next day

Re: Marking out on top of Ditra matting
We use Sharpie markers, and the hair spray trick is great as well.

Gary, the Japanese chalk boxes are the ones that a lot of guys get here. I think the brand name is Tajima.

It's a permanent marker pen. It will come up if you google it.

Re: Marking out on top of Ditra matting
Vern the good thing about Sharpies (besides the color selection as noted by Scott) is they are available in different widths for the tip-super fine all the way up to a super-chubby marker.

Re: Marking out on top of Ditra matting
you could try using pecilastic. it does same job as ditra acting as separating membrane but is only imm thick and you can flick chalk lines on top.
quicker to lay as well.
