    Default Keraquick Issue

    Hi

After laying a 3.5m floor on Tues, I was getting ready to grout the floor today after finishing the Walls when I noticed that the tiles were hollow sounding so had a closer look a noticed that a tile was moving, so got a screwdriver and lifted a tile then an other and another........

When the tiles were lifted there was no adheisive on the tile but only on the floor, the Tiles are 'Mont Blanc' 600x300 from Tile Giant , the floor is Plywood on top of Chipboard

I have used Mapei products for a few years now and have not no issue until now
    , any ideas ?

Phoned technical help and they are sending out someone to have a look

    cheers

    Tubs

    Hi Tubs..

    Size of trowel..?

    Did you primer ply..?

Has the tile a profiled back and did you flat skim the tile back before bedding.?

10 mm trowel used , ply was done by joiner so not sure if primed underneath and sides, never back skimmed cause my mix was nice and wet and the tiles dont have deep profiles in the back !!

I don't suppose the tiles have a dusty layer on the underside?

On that size tile with a 10mm sqaure notch, i would have back skimmed for full contact.. it might just be a minimum contact error and adhesive could not hold the tiles.. The rep will know when he comes out.. please do let us know the outcome.

Funny one there tubs, should have stuck but i hate plywood now as 2 weeks ago i replaced 6 tiles that i stuck to ply.
Poor quality ply everywhere but you say the tile didn't stick? weird. maybe too wet the mix?

Sounds like either dust on the tile or the adhesive may have skinned over before fixing to me.

Have you checked the bag for manufacture date but the date is mostly for Chromium V and if no lumps in the bag then it will set fine.. it is either a bond problem or adhesive contact.. I am sure the Rep will help you on this matter, we can guess all day but we cannot see what you have.
