    Default Which tile adhesive - 400 x 300 x 10 mm ceramic

    have just brought 400 x 300 x 10 mm ceramic tiles for bathroom, the walls are currently plaster. Which tile adhesive should I use and what thickness? I have got some b and q tubbed combine grout and adhesive but have a feling this might not be up to the job...

    Ermmmmmm , no. Use a quality cement based adhesive for that size tile.

    Defintely a cement based adhesive as that tile is too big for a tubbed adhesive, the centre of it will take forever to dry. That adhesive and grout stuff is rubbish too

    You can get a slow set buildfix cement based bagged adhesive from B&Q.. or if you have a Tile Giant local then Mapei P9 is a good one for walls.

    Do you mean grout joint ?? if so, probably 2mm

    Your going to be borderline to overweight for the plaster wall to cope. Here's a link that gives details of tile types and weights and loads that different substrates can handle, the weights don't take into account the adhesive and grout.

    Its ceramics so should be fine IMO if it was porcelain then it will be over

    I wouldn't be so sure mate, porc at that thickness is about 3 kg m2 heavier so way over, as I said, the weights dont even take into account addy and grout.

    But 3kg heavier than than what? We dont know the weight per metre of these tiles. I think there is too much emphasis put on the weight issue but again thats my opinion.
