    Default Patchy Mid Grey Grout

Hi can anyone help me please? Just grouted kitchen floor with Mapei 112 Ultra Colour Plus. The results are shocking, very patchy varying from white to dark grey.

Have decided to remove this grout and start again. I don't need solutions for the patchy grout (I know you can acid strip it or use Aqua Mix to colour it. I am so dissatisfied that I want it done again, properly...So can anyone recommend a Mid Colour Grey Grout which they have used and is Not patchy! Thanking you all!

The biggest problems always seem to be with grey grouts. Make sure you mix it correctly as per instructions this is very very important. And when cleaning excess of tiles make sure you do not over wet the grout as the causes the polymers in the grout come to the surface and thats why it will look very patchy. Mapei grouts are very good but you have to follow the instructions very carefully.

Thanks now I'm worried if I use another grout and don't get it 'just right' it will be patchy again. Who would recommend just using AquaMix colourant? My friend had problems with Bal 'Smoke' going patchy. Has anyone used Ardex?

I've used most colours of BAL grout and never had a problem, as Enduro says, read the mixing and application instructions and follow them to the letter. Never used ardex so I'll let someone else comment on that

i would go with the colourant, cheapest option and if you are not happy with that then move on to next option.

I use Aquamix Grout colorant this will solve your problem, also make grout cleaning in the future really easy. Do not use on natural stone, ok for ceramics & porc tiles. check out www.tradetiler.com one of the forum sponsors he sells it.

Thanks all for your help, just one more question would a Light Grey Aquamix colourant cover Dark Grey patches in the grout or would I need to go for a darker shade than I already have? Thanks!

I went and saw a floor that had this exact problem it turned out that the trout mixed up by the tiler had not been left for a few minutes and then mixed again and this was a guy from bal who said this so always mix your trout to the instructions on the bag leave for five mins then mix again hope it makes sense
