I'm not sure myself. Does anybody else have a comment on this?
My view would be, if it was possible, to dot and dab plasterboard on to your breeze block walls and then tile straight on the plasterboard. this option only works however if you can afford the depth encrouching by 12.5mm

Re: plastering
I would advise if possible to hack off remaining plaster/bonding so that you are back to the blocks, then fix cement backer board instead of re plastering! If you plaster you will need to allow for drying times and because its in a shower enclosure it should then be tanked after plastering.
P.S. Plastering looks easy, but its not!

Re: plastering
Just to add that you will have to mechanically fix the cement boards if you choose that option as they cant be dot and dabbed

Re: plastering
If the remaining plaster is hollow sounding then hack off, I would replace with plasterboard then tank

Re: plastering
If the remaining plaster is sound (you should be aable to tell by tapping with your knucle) get a bag of one coat plaster from wickes or b&q . Prime walls fill voids with plaster then get a long straight edge , using the remaining plaster as guides rub straight edge side to side from the bottom of the wall working your way to top. When plaster is nearly dry spray with plant sprayer and smooth over. Let it dry ,tank n tile
Or remove all plaster and fix cement boards

Re: plastering
Tanking is your choice but I've seen the consequences of rotten timbers
