Help: exterior tiling on wet concrete?
Hi all
To begin with: I live in a tropical country so freezing is not an issue.
Have to tile an outdoor area, but we have a rainy season now, so the concrete gets wet every afternoon and has some algae on it as well.
My question is: do I have to wait until the rainy season is over and let it dry, or can I tile on wet concrete. I have a pressure washer and can use bleach for algae.
I would really like to do this job ASAP.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Help: exterior tiling on wet concrete?
needs to be dry for a couple of days.
id wait until the weather is better , once its tiled it needs to stay dry for a day or 2 after grouting.
try and get the slab covered

Thanks Trev!
So the issue is the rain washing the grout out? or the tiles sticking to the wet concrete?

Re: Help: exterior tiling on wet concrete?
ok. right the concrete is only surface wet, as opposed to it having to dry out after being layed. therefore it is not an issue, clean the area & dry (and remember cement based adhesives are bound with water so the powdre can be used to dry out excess water). when you have fixed tiles just keep them covered until you grout them (as a non proffesional would take longer no offence) Good Luck

Re: Help: exterior tiling on wet concrete?
Great, thank you.
There are no professionals here Luke, construction is done by one crew foundation to finishing.
Of course that can't be good, we have to fix the drywall ceiling now as well because locals don't know the proper way to install it.
