I'm about to replace my bathroom tiles and I am using travertine floor to ceiling and on the floor (the room is 2m x 2m).

On the walls, I have stripped the plasterboard back to the studs (or blockwork on the exterior wall) but I can't decide between Hardibacker 12 mm or NMP 9 mm. They are both about the same cost and the Hardibacker is easier for me to get but the NMP is a lighter and will save about 60 kgs in the room. I already have about 150 kgs of tiles and 100 kgs of shower tray/enclosure. The backer board will add about another 140 to 200 kgs to this which all seems to be getting quite heavy. Is this likely to be a problem? The bathroom is upstairs on joists at 600 centres.

Also, my preference would be for 6mm NMP on the floor rather than 6mm backer as the adhesive seems easier and cheaper to apply. Is it just as good as Hardibacker?

no more ply is spot on to use its cheaper does the same job glued and screwed its better in situations were height is a problem usually on floors its only 6mm but does come in 12mm as well .
