An uneven floor problem and others...
I’m doing a kitchen floor for my mother in the next couple of days. I’ve done a few tiling jobs but haven’t done one in over 2 years so I’m a bit rusty. The kitchen is 12.5m2 the long thin style. She’s bought a light beige and creamy ceramic floor tiles.
A few queries –
1. A grey adhesive will be ok with these tiles won’t it?
2. Is it possible to get a light beige coloured grout for these light beige/creamy tiles. I don’t think a grey grout would look right.
3. Floor tiles are normally 3mm spaced for a 300mx300m tiles right?
4. The floor is very uneven down the two long sides it drops off about 20-25mm from one long side to the other. Between the two short sides there is a small ridge where the floor changes height about 8mm. I’ve done a little research on the internet on SLC’s and it looks to me as if it’s going to cost well over £150 to level this floor using a Mapei Ultraplan Maxi 3-30mm SLC at £27 a bag.
What I’ve thought was to just even out the ridges instead of the whole floor with a bag or two of SLC and just try to do the best I could with the adhesive to level the tiles. I’m thinking once the units are down both sides of the galley shaped kitchen that only leaves say 1m worth of tiles showing. A run off to one side will hardly be noticeable.
Also could you recommend an adhesive that I can use thick and thin coats with to help with the uneven floor?
Any advice would be great.

Re: An uneven floor problem and others...
1. grey adhesive is fine
2. you can get just about any colour grout you like these days
3. 3mm will be great
4 don't cut corners - level it first (to save leveller try chiselling the worst of the high spots off first)
looks like you have the rest sussed
