My last job i had some really bad window reveals so thought i'd do my bit and take some pics on how to rectify them. No doubt some will use the same method but for those that dont, here goes.
This is what i was faced with and the thought of them being packed out with adhesive didnt really suit me.
I decided dot and dab with plasterboard would be the best method. I fixed the boards and made sure that the sill had a fall for the shower water to run off.
The boards all then had a coat of Mapei G primer and 2 coats of Mapeigum to ensure it was properly tanked.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it!! www.original-tile.co.uk <=== NEW WEBSITE NOW OPEN!!!

I have a similar problem but cannot accommodate 12 mm plasterboard on side and bottom reveal. I had intended to use 6mm cement backer board. Can I ix this in a similar way?

That's what I thought. Will have to skim with render to vertical reveals and then bed cill board on cement and screw down. On soffit there is room for 12.5mm plasterboard and I will dot and dab as I don'y fancy screwing into lintel. I can't find a source of 6mm plasterboard near Chester.

You can build up cill /reveals / soffitts, using cement based rapid set flexi. Depending on thickness required
I will probably render side reveals with a mix of 1:3.5:1.5 Rapidset:sharp sand: builders sand. Top reveal dot and dab plasterboard (more depth available) and base mortar to level and screw backer board.
hi
just a comment but i didnt think you need a fall on the window cill these days with double glazing etc.
i dont leave a fall when plastering a window cill,
maybe you would with old style windows or no ventilation in the room
other wise looks slanted for no reason
just a thought people ???
When I plasterboard the soffit part of the reveal I will be fixing to a concrete lintel. Drilling is nigh impossible. As it is a flat surface (but needs building out 12mm or so, could I use an adhesive of some kind rather than dot and dab in this location?

I want to fix - dot and dab - 12.5mm plasterboard into a window reveal. Give me some tips please. I am OK at rendering on a wall or cill but the soffit needs bringing down by about 15mm. Concrete lintel will be too hard to drill.
I am wondering on best way to make the devil stick. Am I best using some tile cement and a couple of temporary props?
