Default What material for a bath panel?

Just curious.... what do you guys prefer to use when building a bath panel which is to tiled? I have to do one on Monday and I will use 2x2 for the frame and in the past I have used ply or aquapanel. Just wondering what you would do? Thanks.

Ha ha, me neither! Dont't like the look of them, don't like doing them! Never used p/board for one; is it strong enough?

It depends on what you are using on it.. but as long as the frame is supported enough then 12.5mm PB is great and no water gets to it if you use silicone in the perimeters of it.

But the better option is aqua panels but as you well know some customers won't pay for it.. so PB does work..

Ply with a 9.5mm plasterboard face or hardi backer.

Hate tiled panels though, especially when i get called to leaks and there is no access left!

Yes, I always leave an access panel. Wonder what size access you all leave? And how do you go about doing this? I sometimes do a thorough job with small hinged door, magnetic catches etc.

I always leave access, crazy if you do not. If I have time and there is enough in the price to do it (and also if I like the customer!) I have been known to do a real thorough job with a small hinged door etc etc....
Just wondering how you guys go about this? What size access panel do you leave? How do you do yours?

I tend to avoid them at all costs now. However is have used he magnetic catches but dont like them. The spring loaded one are ok unless someone leans on it too hard. I leave enough room to access the pipework, taps and waste.
