Default Need advice on adhesives, grouts and preperation for my first time tiling

Hi, I am about to tile my bathroom (approx 30 m2) walls and floor with a 360mm x 270mm glazed ceramic tile the walls a plasterboard which have been painted (from reading other posts i know i'll have to remove the paint) but after this will i need to prime the plasterboards?. The floor has an approx 18mm chipboard sitting on top of a concrete floor. from further reading people seem to recommend removing this and replacing with ply which i don't mind doing as i want to do a nice job but after i have lined with ply which adhesive would you recommend and also would i need to prime first?

    Thanks

prime walls after removing paint, i would use a white powdered adhesive , your tiles are a bit big for a ready mixed addy check out mapei adhesives tile giant if theres one near you.
as regards the floor what condition is the chip board in , how is it fastened down
if secure you could over lay with hardi backer board, other wise you could remove the chip board and use ,ditra matting

If you replace the chipboard with ply (is it onto battens on the concrete?), priming requirements will depend on the adhesive supplier you choose. Some say to prime, some don't so follow the advice of your chosen supplier. Incidently seal the back face and edges of the ply before you lay to reduce the possibility of moisture ingress.

The chipboard is in good condition and as yet is not fixed down to the concrete underneath but i will screw and plug it down and take your advice and use a backer board. thanks for your help

your tiles are border line on the size recommendations for tubbed adhesive, you will probably be cheaper with the cement based adhesive as it will be cheaper than whitestar
