there is several ways people do it-
sand and cement damp but not wet
sand and cement (mortar) 3:1/4:1 ratio (depends who you listen to)
add fairy liquid with the above to make it workable
or a external flexible adhesive, that you mix with water
alcohol-the cause and solution to all of lifes problems

    Dave top man

What would you suggest to grout with
I am planning on having the tiles in a diamond pattern (finally got my angle grinder haha) with a 5 mm gap between tiles so to lessen the small variations in the reclaimed tiles.I was planning to use a pretty dry mix of the sand and cement and point up will this be ok?

needs to be sharp sand for flooring, and you would get a better finish on a 5mm joint with a sanded grout like Ardex c2

Plastisizer should be used not fairy liquid for a wet mix

Thanks for all your continued help so far lads

Just so i know i have it right

I am going to lay on a 3 to 1 mortar base not too wet( how dry or wet should it be)
Also soaking the tiles before i start laying to avoid dryng too quickly

I am planning to use Bal wide joint flexi grout is this ok or do you suggest something else bearing in mind i would need to buy from a store and can get Bal from topps

should i seal before i grout so its easier to clean grout mist
Some people say no need to seal
Or i have read that using coking oil around edge of tile when grouting will be ok

Its a confusing time and time to stop doing these jobs myself i think haha

    Thanks

    Billy
