    Default Tile on karndean

Hi all just a quik one has anyone had the pleasure of tiling onto karndean. Have got one to price they dont want to lift it ,its on a concrete floor and the karndean is in good condition.I would like to use a dural mat but they not keen on the extra price if you can get away with just the sticky. Spoke to Mapei who said no,Webber said two part flexi and bal said pourable thickset ?. Forgot tiles are porcelain 600x600 but could be smaller if they change there mind cheers

hi,it is always best to remove anything you can to have a solid bed to tile onto, saying that i have tiled onto vinyl and have had no probs at all,by using a tilers primer mixed with cement to give a good bonding, then using flexible adhesive, works for me.

This type of floor covering is basically a PVC backing layer, a coloured photograph of wood and a PVC wear layer laminated together using heat. It is possible that delamination could occur particularly with a large tile. With larger tiles the stress that is evident following drying out may be sufficient for problems to result

    remove the Karndean

is it cost they are worried about, if so point out the cost of retiling, which you wont cover as your professional advice is that its removed
