Re: Boarding question
If you have height issues and it's possible, take up the old flooring, add noggins and board with 18 / 25mm wbp.. having said that, whats the issues with levels ?

Basically we have gone down to the floor boards and if we go 18mm board plus tile and adhesive its taking it way above carpet levels.

Re: Boarding question
If the floor boards are solid, then you can use Hardi backer 250..( 6mm)..

Re: Boarding question
I think that was what Alan meant was take up the floorboards as well and fix the ply straight to the joists. That way you wont compromise the height

Re: Boarding question
id take up the boards, noggin the joists. fix 18mm ply , then 6mm backerboard for a more stable surface to tile on especially in a bathroom...
one other thing to mention..always check the joists are well packed into the wall aswell as installing noggins.
