    Default levelling

After putting up a thread about some outside tiling yesterday i have another question.
The floor is 16m2 and to get it level i was thinking of finding the highest part of the floor and then run a straight edge out from this point and build up the other end till its level. Once the staight edge is level i was gona put a screw in the floor the same hight as where i've built it up. This way i know how much levelling compound to put down, i can pour it till it gets to the top of the screw and i know thats level.
Does that sound right to anyone? is that the way you guys would do it?
I need it to be level so i can then tile it so that the tiles run towards the drains so no water will sit on the tiles.
Hope that makes sense, any opinions on how you would do it welcome.

If this a patio area then you are better having the whole area formed with a slight fall to the drain, water only needs a slight fall to flow towards a drain and it would not be noticeable. The area would still be a flat surface.
