Adhesive rolls on the wall ?
hey there, ive been doing a lot of ceramic floors but this is my 1st shower - bathroom project. Doing a full wall of ceramic with buckets of Omnigrip wall tile adhesive from home depot. I seem to be getting a problem to spread that thing could it juts be too thick ? Im using it on Ditra mat ( shower ) and green Plasterboard with a 3\8 square trowel. it doesnt spread well and seems to roll of the wall at some place its really long to get those line of adhesive there.
( Tiles are 8inches by 20inches )
its bare plasterboard and ditra mat ( over denshield ) even tryed on a primed wall and its not working well anywhere could it just be the product ? or am i missing a step. Or does it just sticks so much on the trowel that it gets it back from the wall ?
Thx for the help!

Re: Adhesive rolls on the wall ?
Abandon the dispersion adhesive and buy a cement based addy. Always stick my membranes on with rapid flexi and a 4mm trowel

Re: Adhesive rolls on the wall ?
Hello..
Terminology here might just help..
The mastic adhesive you have is no good to use over the Ditra.
You will need an unmodified thinset and it is your choice as whether to use a fast set or standard set thinset..
What adhesive do you use to apply the Ditra.?

Re: Adhesive rolls on the wall ?
i applyed ditra over denshield using unmodified bagged thinset ( white )
i though i needed modified thinset over it because i was using porcelain tiles and it would not hold to unmodified ?
thx

Re: Adhesive rolls on the wall ?
We in the UK do use a modified thinset but Schluter .com say not to in the USA/Canada..
Something to do with setting times, personally i would use a modified thinset.
