Prime the tiles with something like PCI 303, this will give a surface to fix to.

I would suger soap to remove any gunk that maybe on the tiles, then rough up the surface of the old tiles.

The primer above must be good but I've never used it

I used to do it via keying the tiles ,no more, if I ever have to do it again I'll do it the primer way, Pete, pjc does it this way, a job we did together was done this way and no problems

    Thanks Pete

removing not an option as this will will destroy the whole walls which will involve re boadring and cost and this is something he cant do.

I'm with jay, remove tiles, reboard etc, it may cost more, but that 's better than tiles falling on someone in the bath!!!!!!

In the ideal situation I agree take them off ..... but sometimes its not always possible, use a primer and bal white star you wont have a problem

I over tiled that way a couple of yrs ago After 6 mths took out bath and fitted a 1200 shower, had to take off 4 courses of the tiles I fixed tile on tile with white star it was hard work proved the point to me

bucket adhesive can take up to two weeks to dry tile on tile always best using a cement based adhesive imo
