pocelain tiles poping!
went to see a job today customer had got a tiler to lay 18 sq mtr pocelain 500x500 tiles on concrete floor a few weeks ago and in some places they are coming loose lifted one tile easy and he had a good bed on the floor 12mm notched trowel so no probs there but the tile had virtually no addy on it and he had not back buttered it either.luckly he had left a 1/2 bag of addy in her shed it was cement based adhesive but had no pocelbond aditive in it for pocelain tiles in my oppinion i would always use addy with porcelbond in it or it might just have been his mixture was to dry whats your thoughts on this one!

Another d head tiler i bet.could have been any one of a number of reasons.addy prob not suitable.check with manufacurers first.too dry a mix would cause it too as you say.if the adh was stuck to tile id say floor was dusty and no primer used.

Re: pocelain tiles poping!
Porcelbond is just a term used by BAL.( basicly means modified)...Any adhesive with a slight polymer modification is suitable to fix vitrified tiles..
..
Back to this job....could well be too dry a mix like you say or wrong adhesive...I gather the adhesive is stuck solid to the substrate..?

Re: pocelain tiles poping!
was there an impression of the tile profile on the addy that was stuck on the screed? If there wasn't I'd say too dry a mix too

Re: pocelain tiles poping!
also - large enough grout gaps? is it on a green screed? or on underfloor heating that was turned on too early / not increased gradually? out of interest - what was the addy? (sounds like the addy / mix though)

Wrong addy............too dry..........dust on back of tile.........trying to use to dregs in the bucket before it goes off......as in rapid set

Re: pocelain tiles poping!
wonder if tiles have been laid wet as in boxes have been out in weather got wet i know they have a low obsobtion rate but might explain why no addy on tile

Re: pocelain tiles poping!
Probably its a case of the wrong addy and the back of the tile was wet i always use flexi addy with porc
