    Default Adhesive for porceleain tiles

Hi, I'm fairly new to tiling and new to this forum. Have been reading through and hte wealth of knoledge here seems great! I have just purchased some 600 x 600 porceleain tiles to do the ground floor of my house. I plan to lay 12mm ply over the existing fllor boarding to hel[p level and stop any bounce in the floor. What I am not sure about is what tile adhesive to use. I am not sure whether to use rapid seting adhesive as I dont want to have to rush myself when laying them, I dont have a short time scale so it doesnt relly matter. Can anyone recommend a decent one, preferably not to expensive! I have look up johnsons adhesive and that loked a good price.

    Thanks for any help!

Granfix flexible is quite good and not to expensive, get the rapit setting though on a floor. Rather than ply-wood, of the floor boards are quite solid and limited movement, but Hardi-backer board, its great stuff and is marked out and ready to tile straight away and its only about 7-8mm thick but very tough.

We all have our favorite brands so whichever adhesive you use make sure it contains Porcelbond, agree with the use of Hardibacker instead of ply.

That is just a term used by Bal....Any flexible adhesive will adhere to porcelain and even most rapidsets now have a small amount of polymers to help them adhere to porcelain..( vitrified tiles)..

Hello F-E-B , yas can agree with all above but if your budget is tight there is no prob in my opinion using your 12mm ply screw it down well every 200mm or so and get yourself some flexi rapidset a good one (,BAL,Mapei )etc. same flexi grout and thats it mate ,works for me anyhow

no, not polished, they are matt finish and look like slate. The man in tile giant said to seal them but I wasn't sure if he was correct.
