    Default Grout Applicator

Is there such a thing as a grout applicator? I have ceramic tiles that have a matt finish and don't really want to apply grout in the usual manner for fear of getting grout on the surface of the tile. Can you buy applicators for applying grout specifically to the gaps between the tiles?

I "invented" one of these a few years ago when I was doing some repointing outside my house. I took an acrylic decorators filler tube, squeezed it through, pulled out the plunger and washed it out thoroughly making a right mess in the kitchen sink to my wifes serious displeasure, filled it with plasticied mortar (took 2 or 3 goes to get this right) and then used my filler gun to point up the walls. Took me the best part of a Saturday to do all this. On the Monday I was in the middle of pointing up the walls and next doors plasterer turned up and said I could have got one for about £6.00 from Screwfix. ..

They are the ceramic sicily wall tiles on the link below. They don't have a gloss finish and I'm concerned about getting grout on the face of the tiles. It's took me long enough to tile the walls and I don't want to spoil them by getting them covered in grout.

    Any advice would be appreciated

There ceramic, should'nt be any problem just grout in small areas or just fill the joints without going all over the tile

I'm a bit concerned now that you've stated they're porous. I have fitted them on the walls in the bath shower area.

By porous, i mean the tiles biscuit...it is a red clay biscuit but fine for what you have...they have a matt glazed finish ...so don't worry...

No I don't have a grout float at present. How would I remove grout from the face of the tile if I go down this route? Would I have to wait until the grout is dry before washing the tiles down? Surely I couldn't wash them down whilst the grout is still wet?

I've ripped the old suite out and the old floor, strengthened the new floor, had the walls replastered, done the electrics and plumbing myself, fitted a new bathroom suite and pumped thermostatic shower, boxed in, waterproofed, tiled and trimmed. I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I'm not about to give up now, especially on the grouting.

Having said that, I'm dreading doing the silicone and may well get a pro in to do that but feel that grouting should be within my capabilities.

it's the final leg to be sure, also the one that determines how well the job looks, a badly grouted wall (or floor) can ruin an otherwise perfect job.
