Re: which Mapei on ply
you have a few options really....
1. overboard with hardi or eqiv.
2. lay heatmat...use slc or adhesive to cover wire.
3. tile away
--------
1.lay heatmat
2. Fibreplan heatmat.
3. tile away
in either case i would use keraquick, but you can use keraflex maxi...
more info on your skill would help!

Re: which Mapei on ply
You want the flexible stuff suitable for porcelain. Though I'll let the lads name the brand/make as I don't tile anymore.
For the record, Mapei is the largest manufacturer of building materials in the world. BAL has a chunk of the UK market share. That's why the price is better for better gear if you go with Mapei. Checkout their grout-ranges too, loads of colour choices, and they match their silicones. No other manufacturer does that, and I'd got for mapei for that reason alone personally.

Re: which Mapei on ply
You'll want flexi adhesive, you can use keraflex or P9.Make sure the floorboards are secure and the play is screwed every 250mm and prime the top and sides of the ply.

keraquick is s1 without latex plus, its S2 with latex plus...and then you can stick to metal........

s1 is fine for ceramic and stone and porcelain and ply,
S2 is even more flexi........not needed in common installs!
that said 18mm ply over floor boards or S2!!!!! for me!!!!....and never less than 12mm ply.......ever!

if it was me....
12mm or 18mm ply.....no deflection,
i would, lay the heat mat on the ply.
SLC the ply and heatmat with FIBREPLAN.
once flat....even if it means FIBREPLAN AGAIN,
i would use Keraquick (coz im fast) or Keraflex/maxi (coz im slow),
and grout with ultracolor plus.....thats it!
IMO.
Kindest Regards
Dagger!

the underside and edges need sealing with primer too, if you're using mapei adhesive "primer g" is the stuff to use

Re: which Mapei on ply
If you go down the Keraflex route, make sure its Keraflex Maxi and not the ordinary Keraflex, as the normal stuff can only be used on tiles up to 300 x 300 for UFH installs (according to the tech sheets)

i spoke to mapei recently,
and they no longer reccommend primer g for wood....
Primer g should only be used for plaster, and SLC.......
anything else needs to be primed with "eco prim t"....i know, i know... but primer g has almost become redundant!!
the rules are changed again........dont shoot the messenger!
