Hello.

I'd like to lay polished marble tiles in a bathroom onto new 22mm chipboard floor decking.

One tile supplier I've spoken to recommended using a 2 part latex adhesive on this floor while another said that this type of expensive adhesive is not necessary.

What do you think??

I wouldnt be tiling to chipboard without overboarding with backer boards, too much hassle.

You deffo need some sort of floor prepping..

what marble is it..?

chipboard is a no,no....overboard with hardibacker, no more ply etc
glued and screwed a 200 centres (providing the chipboard has no defection).

you can also overboard with 12mm ply if height is not a problem!

and use keraflex maxi or keraquick.

Thanks for your advice. Presumably if I put down backer boards first then I can use a standard adhesive rather than more expensive 2 part latex? Yes use a single part flexible
Roughly how thick are backer boards as I am a bit limited on how much I can raise the floor? 6mm
Also, is the same base required for any floor tiles, or just for natural stone? Its chipboard that is the problem

The type of marble I was thinking of is called "cappucino marble" polished, from premium stone collection at Topps.

i use a lot of 2 part flexi on floors, mainly solid 22mm ply , just having read these comments do you think im overdoing it a bit ?

There is nothing wrong with overdoing things, belt and braces

think its the smell of the latex thats got me !!! JUST SAY NO KIDS lol
