Grout & Adhesive Manufacturers
Hi,
I am tiling porcelain onto plaster its only 8mm so is less than 20kg.
However when I have gone to get the adhesive and grouts I had to pick up different brands due to mostly stocking issues.
I have got:-
BAL Primer
BAL WP1
Dunlop Single Part Flexible Adhesive Standard Plus
Mapei Jasmine 5kg Grout UltraColor Plus
This may be a stupid question but I take it that all these different brands will be fine used together. I am planning on getting some sealer to seal the tiles prior to grouting.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Grout & Adhesive Manufacturers
Reading through a few forums it seems that the Dunlop and BAL products are the same company. So I suppose if I have to change the mapei grout then i'll do that.

Re: Grout & Adhesive Manufacturers
all sounds okay to me.. i dont use all the products but,
a primer is a must,
wp1 is a tanking kit if im not mistaken,
single part flex should be fine for porcelain,
and jasmine 130 grout is perfect!!
best wishes!

Re: Grout & Adhesive Manufacturers
I wouldnt worry about the different products but may i suggest keeping the joints clean with Jasmine grout just in case the adhesive bleeds though.

Re: Grout & Adhesive Manufacturers
Hi Thanks for your help.
I eventually swapped the Dunlop for BAL Single Part Flexible, at lot more expensive but at least I can sleep a bit easier knowing that I did the best job I could. I am almost certain that the Dunlop adhesive was exactly the same though apart from almost 50% cheaper. I have still got the Grout to apply yet and am hoping its not too tricky mixing it, just been reading the sticky. Thanks for the tip Sir Ramic.
When I was in the shop they said that I didn't have to seal the porcelain as it isn't polished but I don't know, I'll probably do a test run with a few offcuts. The tiles are very similar to stone feel.
Cheers
Chris
