Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
I would scrim and wipe some spf into the joints of the cement boards first

i use latexplan when installing amteco or lino etc, its a bit "thin" for over underfloor heating! IMO.

i understand what you mean, but, if your floor is not bob on in the firstplace then 10mm is not that much! plus there is thermal expansion and contraction to concider...just a thought!
to be honest ultraplan maxi is a little more expensive but goes up to 30mm in one hit!!!
but i would still use fibreplan! the fibreglass reinforcement gives me the confidence it wont fail!
just my opinion!

Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
I,ve used latexplan trade over UFH at about 6mm depth and been totally fine up to know.
The instructions for latexplan and latexplan trade says both are fine with ufh.
I wouldn't want to go much deeper with the height issue, cost and not neccessary.

Aye mate, but it was the timber/backerboard construction I wasn't sure about

Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
Would have thought as long as the wood floor is well screwed down with no deflections would be fine.
As a thought would 6mm hardiebacker be a better option over the wood floor?
Suppose if using a thermal board the heat in theory should be reflected upwards and not as much onto the timber possible eliminating some contraction??
If it had been a wet ufh then i'd use deffinetly use fibre but still think latexplan would be fine
Good luck

Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
If the sub floor would have concrete or screed i would have said Latexplan Trade, seeing as its overboarded timber with backer boards i would go for Fibreplan for added strength.

Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
fibreplan is the only screed for wood!
and would be my preference over backerboards!!

Dagger.

Re: Mapei Latexplan on UFH
Spoke to the Mapei technical dept and they say fibre plan would be best but also if the timber is well screwed down Latexplan as well would be totally adequate.
Looked on the technical data sheets of latexplan and trade and both say fine for wood.
Also the compound is to go over the 10mmcement board and not the wood.

Kev
