larsens adhesive has come to my attention a few times recently and wondered if anyone has used this and found it to be a good product.
I need a rapid set adhesive for fixing stone that does not set too quick so that i can adjust tiles for approx one hour.
I need to bed stone up to 10mm solid bed without slumping on dodgy screeds that require a perfectly level stone finish.
Can always use normal flexible adhesive from other companies but this lets the moisture and polymers migrate up through stone that can cause blotchiness problems on light stones even with a full bed underneath.
Larsens seem to be doing a big push with their adhesive and cost is incredibly competitive but it has to do the job I intend it for.
Interested to hear from other stone fixers with any experience with their products and which one they would recommend.

Re: who recommends larsens adhesive
i understand Sam the pro tiler and trainer over at Diamond Training rates it highly, i have not used it. His major tile love is stone so he will know the answer to your question. I'll draw his attention to this thread.
However I have used their grout and its excellent, mixes up to a nice solid cream and works in well and sets smooth, nice to work with. I only got to use it recently and would consider it vs my normal BAL and Nicobond. If their addy is as good as theri grout I would try it out. Good question - i also look forward to answers on this. Larsons didnt figure in the forum addy poll.

Yeah it's definately Irish mate. I've seen them at exhibitions and they look the part but I've never used the stuff. I don't think they hold much market share or are available in many place but I guess that may change if they're doing a bit of a push on it.
Keep us posted if you get to use it and let us know what you think.

Re: who recommends larsens adhesive
I used plenty of it over the last few years.again no major issues with it.very competitive prices too add to a good package.the grouts are mostly sanded a hard wearing and lovely to use.their single part flexi wall is great too.new packaging from last year too and new improved mixtures i think.i haven't used it lately though.

Re: who recommends larsens adhesive
I'e used Larsen for stone and I found that the grey fast set non flexi is ok, the grey and white flexi is very bouncy, by that I mean it actually bounces up when you push you tile down to where you need it so , peronally, I hate it coz it takes longer to fit your tiles.
Also, I find the grout gritty and it doesnt adhere to the tile surface, when your doing walls it's a pig to use because most of it ends up on the floor!
But they may have improved it recently, dunno

Re: who recommends larsens adhesive
Used it quite a bit myself, produced a few miles from my house so pops up on a lot of jobs.
The rapidset and flexi rapidset are strong enough, short tub life though and dries out quickly. Can be a benefit or a hindrance depending on how you use it. Used the white OPF on a few jobs too. Wouldn't rate it as much as it doesn't hang as well as some other adhesives. Wouldn't be my first choice as I can get better (imo) adhesives cheaper, still wouldn't hesitate to use it if it was supplied on a job, however.
